I took videos of my two cars starting up this morning in ambient air temperatures around -13F. Enjoy.

Didn't think to get any of the Vanagon this morning.
Slow cranking like the Audi, but idled like a kitten. (if kittens had noisy PS belts)

My PS pump was noisy in the Grand Prix. Enough so that I popped the hood to make sure everything was at least visually okay. It quieted down back to normal though before I drove off 10 minutes later.
I should take a video of the Grand Prix starting in normal weather. The Audi cranked a bit slow, but the Grand Prix sounded totally different starting in the cold as compared to normal temperatures.

It's slightly 40*F around here, but my 919 would absolutely hate me if I tried to start her up in frigid weather.

You have to watch the newer cars with a plastic intake just had one back fire and shatter it all over the place.

Zero degrees here, and the Outback has a three year old OEM battery in it that's feeling a bit tired lately.
Two weak cranks that dimmed the headlights and then it fired right up.
I am impress.

The Mercury Milan could care less about temperatures! It started up without hesitation like the trusty little bastard it is!
(same ambient near me btw)

Parked outside? That's impressive.

My Grand Prix's battery has to be nearing 6 or more years old now. Still entirely reliable, as evidenced here.
The Audi's battery is just barely over 3 years old. Not too bad yet.

Uninsulated detached garage. So...pretty much.
The wife's Jeep Commander started (parked completely outside) no questions asked too. Windchills put us at -41 last night.

I suppose it would depend on what you consider "no questions asked." My two cars did pretty well, I thought. A bit slower cranking than usual, and the Grand Prix's PS pump was whining at first, but not bad. Particularly for cars 18+ years old.

I wish I had taken a video this morning. My 03 Subaru sounded like it was pumping honey

Same thing with my 03 Impreza, but I put an Optima Red Top in last year that's still at 12.6V. Some Rotella T6 and my engine took a few more light-dimming cranks before it turned over the past few days

I wish I'd of scene this article when it came out, was -19 F here every morning for a while, and my 65' Beetle would start (with a bit of doing) the rest of our cars started up fine, maybe took a half second longer at most
